Flat Rack Transport & Oversized Freight Delivery

Shipment Overview

This project involved the transport of oversized machinery components on flat rack out-of-gauge equipment. The cargo required waterproof packing, wooden bracing, lashing, and securing, followed by ocean freight and heavy-haul delivery from Europe to North America.
Our team successfully managed the end-to-end logistics of an oversized freight project, beginning at the Port of Houston, Texas. The cargo arrived secured on a flat rack container, requiring specialized handling and precise coordination to ensure a safe and efficient transfer.
Upon arrival at the port, we arranged drayage to a nearby warehouse equipped for heavy-lift operations. Using a crane, our crew carefully offloaded the pieces from the flat rack, ensuring each component was handled with the necessary safety measures to protect both the freight and personnel. Once unloaded, the cargo was prepped and secured for its next leg of the journey.
Given the freight’s dimensions, we coordinated with a permitted semi-truck operator utilizing a step-deck flatbed trailer rated for over height and oversized loads. The truck was outfitted with the required DOT permits, route surveys, and escort vehicles when necessary.
From there, the shipment embarked on a long-haul journey to its final destination — in past projects, our team has completed similar deliveries to locations such as Chicago, Illinois; Denver, Colorado; Atlanta, Georgia; and Minneapolis, Minnesota — each requiring route planning to navigate bridges, weight restrictions, and state-specific regulations.
This operation is a strong example of our ability to coordinate multiple moving parts — from port drayage and heavy-lift transloading to specialized permitting and long-distance oversized delivery — all while keeping timelines, safety, and compliance as top priorities.
