Transport of Solar-Powered Mobile Surveillance Trailers
Project Overview
A customer required transportation of multiple mobile solar-powered surveillance trailers between facilities in California. The units were towable equipment but not road-ready for highway transport in a convoy, requiring secure flatbed transport instead.
Each trailer included:
- Solar panel arrays
- Telescoping surveillance masts
- Battery banks & electronics
- Stabilizing outriggers
Because of the equipment sensitivity and height profile, improper securement could damage electronics, panels, or alignment systems.
Challenges

High-Value Sensitive Equipment
- The units contained cameras, electrical systems, and charging components vulnerable to vibration and shock. Standard chaining alone would cause frame stress and component misalignment.

Multiple Tie-Down Points Required
Unlike standard freight, these trailers had:
- Wheels
- Stabilizer legs
- Frame points
- Panel structures
Each required different securement methods to prevent shifting without bending the frame.

- Loading several units onto a single flatbed required careful spacing to maintain legal axle weights while preventing trailer-to-trailer contact.
